NALCO a finalist in prestigious Manukau awards
NALCO becomes finalist in 3 categories in the Westpac Manukau Business Excellence Awards amidst a flood of entries!
The high standard of entries are spread generously between industry sectors: the companies honoured as finalists offer everything from snowboards to boardroom furniture; sweet syrups to flat whites; literacy training to theatrical productions; retirement homes to rehab services; aluminium extrusions to plastics recycling.
That’s just a brief snapshot of the 36 finalists who entered the 11 Award categories. The finalists were announced and toasted at a special function at Villa Maria Estate on the evening of Wednesday 29 July.
Managing Director for NALCO Ron Holden was on hand to receive the plaques in honour of the success in becoming a finalist. "I was thrilled with the announcement for the first finalist award and by the time we received three, I was completely overcome. It is a tribute to the progress the team at NALCO has made in the 7 years we have been in business. NALCO became a finalist in the following categories;
- Enterprising Manukau Excellence in Exporting
- Cogita Excellence in Innovation & Strategy
- EMA Excellence in Manufacturing
Ian Blair, General Manager of Business Banking at Westpac, major sponsor of the Awards, is pleased with the great response to this year’s awards. "Westpac New Zealand congratulates all the finalists, especially as competition in this year’s Awards has been particularly strong. With more than double the number of entries compared to last year, it means that a new benchmark of excellence has been well and truly set."
Manukau City Council Mayor Len Brown is delighted with the response from the business community. "Manukau businesses have really stepped up to the challenge. It’s wonderful to see so many companies looking for the positives, even during these challenging economic times."
"I congratulate all the finalists – making it this far is a huge achievement, so I hope you and your teams take this opportunity to celebrate your hard work and success. I'm looking forward to the announcement of the winners in a few weeks time, but the quality of finalists shows that everyone who entered is already a winning business."
