Broadband Radar Componentry Supplied by Swages

Auckland based CNC precision machining shop Swages fabricate customised componentry across Marine, Medical, Lighting and Military fraternities. Their client list include local and global distribution companies from casing and components for lighting company Hunza to Reddot Design Award Winner Manfred Frank’s Micromaster Hinge.

Swages fabricate aluminium antennae for Navico’s range of extremely high end Broadband Radars, cutting, machining and etching aluminium extrusions to fit the electronic components and protect from potential water penetration. Broadband Radars, enable highly detailed target resolution at an unprecedented 1/32 nm range. Producing a clearer separation of close quarter objects such as docks, channel markers and moored vessels, over that of traditional pulse radar.

The radar antennae requires fabrication to very close tolerances in order to maintain its superior image clarity. NALCO and Swages worked alongside Navico to develop the best aluminium extrusion profile for the product.

Swages operate out of a well-equipped 27,000-sqft factory in East Tamaki, their team of 50 run a 20hr, two shift regime which can support large run machining orders for national and international markets. They also provide product design, development assistance and CMM Inspection with hard copy verification when required.
