NALCO Marine Showcase

NALCO’s recent open evening successfully showcased their East Tamaki manufacturing and warehousing operations to members of the Registered Institute of Naval Architects (RINA) and local boat builders.

The presentation included a demonstration of NALCO’s flatbed router, profile cutting a selection of boat shaped samples from 3mm sheet. NALCO can profile cut, tap and drill sheet and plate up to 25mm gauge and nine metres in length.

NALCO stock a wide range of sheet and extrusion up to nine metres in length specifically for the marine industry and recently purchased specialist material handling equipment used to move and process the seven and nine metre sheets.

Henkel also showed their impressive range of Loctite high performance structural adhesives. The potential of Henkel’s adhesives was demonstrated by featuring an eight pound bowling ball impact strength test, that saw the metal tear before the glued join separated!

One of the nights highlights was the chance to see Sealegs All Black amphibious boat and an opportunity for the industry to mix and mingle.

The evening was as a great success. Roger Hill of Roger Hill Yacht Design commented "I really enjoyed the evening and am sure other RINA members did also, it provided a unique opportunity to view marine product being fabricated and the Loctite presentation was of real interest."
