Excellence in Exporting Finalists Announced

The stars of business in Manukau have been found for 2010, with the announcement of the finalists for the Westpac Manukau Business Excellence Awards, New Zealand’s largest and possibly most prestigious business awards programme.

NALCO is the sponsor of the Excellence in Exporting category following last years win of the Supreme Award, also taking out the Manufacturing Excellence Award and the Strategy and Innovation Award.

Ron Holden, NALCO’s Managing Director comments “NALCO took up this sponsorship because I believe exporters need all the recognition and encouragement they can in order to build strong businesses and a strong economy here in New Zealand.”

Exporting is key to New Zealand’s prosperity and growth with many economists indicating economic recovery is likely to be export-led and growth in exports will be what sustains New Zealand’s economic performance in the longer run.

Ron continues stating “The current government have a trade agenda focused on unlocking overseas markets in order to boost New Zealand exports but despite this export companies get no assistance from central government unlike many of our trading neighbours. Awards like this go a long way to helping exporting companies such as ourselves to benchmark performance and reinforce confidence in export strategies.”
