Bradnam’s Nick Kelly Wins Prestigious New Award

Nick Kelly from Bradnam’s Christchurch won the inaugural WANZ Cup for “Most Promising Architectural Aluminium Joinery Apprentice”.  Nick was chosen from sixteen national finalists and presented with his award at the recent 2011 WANZ Awards Gala evening.  

The award was open to all apprentices who are completing the Level 3 National Certificate in Architectural Aluminium Joinery.  

The judges said “Nick stood out because of his high assessment level and very favourable submissions by his employer”.  Along with the honour of winning, Nick’s prize was a trip to the WANZ conference in Auckland, with spending money.

Other NALCO representatives Michael Petersen, Farrokh Wadia and Ron Holden were present to see Nick announced as the winner and presented with his award, including a huge silver cup (and a miniature to keep).

Nick has been employed at Bradnam’s since January 2007.  His employer Bradnam’s Christchurch Branch Manager, David Walker Rogers said that over this time Nick has developed into an outstanding staff member.

“Nick has shown leadership skills and the desire to learn more about the industry. He has been a driving force in Lean Manufacturing changes that have occurred in our branch, become a Team Leader and is very proactive in helping other staff members up skill in their work areas”.
